The Flight to varennes
By Ben Ehrhard
Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette made a break to Varennes from Paris in hopes of escaping the tyrannical radicals. They planned on escaping to Austria and seek refuge with Marie’s family. They were forced into escaping, it was their only option, due to the dangerous, irresponsible French radicals who have assumed power and have been killing the innocent daily, the revolution is getting out of hand, and needs to be put down before these foolish ideas spread. Louis and Marie were almost to safety until being spotted by a French traitor/revolutionary named Jean-Baptiste Drouet, a 7 year veteran of the french army. Drouet compared Louis to the french coin, and confirmed it was Louis XVI. After being caught, Louis and Marie were subsequently banished back to Paris. The radicals have not stated any clear consequences for Marie and Louis. The radicals have not stated any clear consequences for Marie and Louis, however it is now evident that the Queen and Louis do not support this phony revolution.
